I am back in the vintage game! At Home With Henry has recently reopened with an all new selection of vintage clothing, accessories and housewares. Stay tuned for plenty of pretty new dresses over the next few weeks!

Big hugs to you on this Memorial Day Weekend!

The Leaning Tower of Cake

My friends are getting married today, and although it is more of a formality than anything (the actual wedding is next weekend in Mexico), I still think there should be cake involved. I spent three hours on this beast this morning, and it is not my best work. Usually I make two layer cakes and they turn out just fine, but today I tried to get fancy and add a third layer and it's not working so well. This thing weighs like ten pounds and is sooooooo crooked. OOPS.

See? Ridiculous. At least it tastes good.

The inspiration for the design on top came from this amazing fabric pattern, which I love so much I could marry. Only if I did marry it, one of you would have to make the cake, OK?

I just added some more vintage items to my Virtual Yard Sale and dropped prices on the items remaining from last week's update. Check everything out HERE.

XOXO

It was all about enjoying the little things today...

And taking advantage of the real reason anyone has kids in the first place: free manual labor! (kidding, of course!)

I saw this video on The Bedlam of Beefy via a Tweet from Melissa (if you are not familiar with them, both are fantastic blogs!) a few days ago. The things Kevin talks about are right along the same lines of what has been on my mind recently and a conversation Josh and I had about doing things because they are truly, authentically **you** vs. doing things because you want other people to perceive you a certain way. Both Josh and I fall into the first category, and it is how I am trying to raise Henry to be. It is not always easy to be yourself when you fall outside the lines of what other people decide is the norm, as we have been reminded these past few weeks. It is so worth it though, isn't it?

After not having attended a wedding in almost five years, I am now invited to FOUR this summer. My biggest concern, of course, is what to wear, as I do not have much in the way of wedding appropriate clothing! This little vintage dress came home with me after an impromptu visit to my favorite thrift shop last week, and I have decided it will be perfect for the wedding I am attending in early June. Although it is an afternoon/evening event, it will be fairly casual and this little cotton dress will be just fine (after being pressed, of course!).

I already own these shoes (LOVE the wood detail!)

and this vintage fur cardigan (the hedgehog pin is from the RVA store) for when it cools down in the evening.

Now is the part where I ask you for help!! Do you have any accessory suggestions? I feel like I need a fun, brightly colored bracelet or something to jazz things up a bit.

For some reason I keep thinking yellow... Maybe something with these pretty beads?

Any cute clutch suggestions would be appreciated, as well! I am looking for something really fun... Along the lines of this lovely little bag but perhaps a bit crazier/more unique.

What are your favorite online spots for accessory (and fashion in general) shopping and inspiration? Please leave me some links in the comments--all of your advice is truly appreciated!

I have been working hard for the past week or so to finish up some special projects. I am absolutely in love with this hand dyed t-shirt yarn and have about a bazillion ideas of projects to use it for.

I also have two furniture projects to complete (before and after photos to come!), a second set of special projects (in addition to the one mentioned above), and some serious attention is needed in both Henry's bedroom and Josh's and my bedroom.

There is also a pile of (some super cute!) items to be added to the Virtual Yard Sale. I am going to do my best to make this happen tomorrow.

And, oh yeah--helping Henry navigate the difficulties of childhood is on the list, too. Number one, in fact.

I love having a long To-Do list (although I hope poor Henry has a better week--bully troubles last week had us all in tears!).

How about you? What is heaped on your plate this week?
